HAVANA -- Dorothy M Trimpe, 86, of Havana died Friday, April 28, 2000, at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born April 25, 1914, in Mason County, the daughter of Henry and Minnie Schierbeck Wendt. She married Albert H Trimpe in 1934 in Havana; he preceded her in death in 1947. A daughter, Dopris Ann, also preceded him in death.

Mrs Trimpe, a homemaker, was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church in Havana.

Survivors: a daughter, Clarice Trimpe of Havana; two sons, James (wife, Mary) and Ronald (wife, Margaret) Trimpe, both of Havana; 11 grand-children, 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ella Harfst of Webster City, Iowa, and Leta and Lucille Trimpe, both of Havana; and two brothers, Henry Wendt of Springfield and Robert (wife, E J) Wendt of Havana.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, St Paul's Luther Church in Havana, the Rev Martin W Liebmann officiating. Burial: Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.

HAVANA -- Leta M Trimpe, 97, of Havana died Saturday, Nov 27, 2004, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.

She was born Dec 20, 1906 in Radcliffe, Iowa, the daughter of Henry August and Minnie Schierbeck Wendt. She married Clarence William Trimpe in 1925 in Havana; he died in 1948. A son, Paul Albert Trimpe, also preceded her in death.

Mrs Trimpe was a homemaker. She was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church inHavana, St Pual's Ladies Aid, and St Paul's Altar Guild, and MEB Birthday Club.

Survivors: son, William Trimpe of Havana; three daughters, Marilyn (husband, John) McCoy of Washington; Jo Ann (husband, Dwayne) Taylor of Bath; and Norma Jean (husband, James) Meehan of Astoria; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Wendt of Havana; and sister, Lucille Trimpe of Havana.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, St Paul's Lutheran Church, Havana, the Rev Martin W Liebmann officiating. Burial: Laurel Hill Cemetery, Havana.

COSTON MALCHIJAL TYLER

On Saturday, January 14, 1899, Mr Coston M Tyler, an old and respected citizen of this community, departed this life at the home of Mr and Mrs Lee Patterson, about one mile west of the city, at the advanced age of seventy-nine years, eleven months, eighteen days.

Deceased was born in Vanderburg County, Indiana, January 27, 1819. His mother died when he was eight years of age, and his father some three years later, after which he found a home with his grandfather, Joseph Tyler, where he spent his boyhood life. Arriving at manhood, he was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth J Elledge on the 11th day of December, 1845, and in 1858 came to Mason county where they spent the remainder of life. They were the parents of eleven children, five of whom survive them, namely: Dr W R Tyler, of San Jose, Robert Tyler of Amity, Mo, Mary Seigrist, of Suctton, Neb, Laura Vanloon of this city (Mason City), and John Tylor whose address is unknown to his fmaily. The former children were present at the funeral.

Mr Tyler joined the 108th Illijnois, August 12, 1862, and was discharged May 17, 1865 after the close of the Civil War. When he came home and settled down to farm life for several years, or until old age and infirmity compelled him to desist, since that time has made his home here.

Mr and Mrs Tyler shared each others sorrows for many years until on the 13th of March 1874 the wife and mother was called to her home beyond the river. He was again married to Mrs Jane Trent, October 12, 1875, who passed away October 26, 1882.

Not long after his first marriage he and his companion made a profession of religion and joined the Christian church, and after coming to Mason county went into the church whicvh was then forming at Allen's Grove, under the labors of Elder Ryan and others, which from some causes disbanded later on. At a meeting held at that place in the early spring by Elder J M Haughey, a new organiztion was formed and Brother and Sister Tyler became charter members and he was chosen by the brotherhood as an officer. Some years later he became a member here and remained an honored brother until he was called to a higher life on the farther shore.

The funeral services were held at the Christian church at 10 o'clock on Monday, Jan 16, 1899, conducted by Elders Haughey andRoach, the song service being rendered by Messrs Castleberry, Enlows, Badger and Crumrine. The body now sleeps by the silent dead at Cherry Grove while his children mourn the departure of a beloved father, and warm hearted friends cosole with the bereaved in this their time of deepest grief.
